The Benefits of Choosing a Mini Maternity Session with your Newborn Session

I'm going to be up-front with you, I'm all for getting as many photo sessions in as you can as you welcome a new life into the world. When I had my kids, I did a newborn session as well as a full maternity session, and I’ve never regretted it (I’ve actually never regretting getting any type of professionals taken of me and my family). There are so many reasons why packages that bundle maternity and newborn sessions together are a great thing, so I’m going to run you through a few of my top reasons in case you are waffling between just having one session and springing for both. In my experience, most clients are trying to decide whether or not a maternity session is something they need. Many women feel uncomfortable in their skin while they are pregnant, and don’t necessarily want to remember how they are feeling thirty pounds heavier. Sometimes you have bad pregnancies*. Trust me, I did. I still made a maternity shoot a priority and I’m here to tell you that you should, too. A maternity session helps you remember a time you will never get back. You may feel less than pleasant right now, but trust me, looking back, you will marvel at what your body did. You will be amazed that you grew a tiny person inside of you. You will be so glad you took those images.

  • Cost- Each photographer is different, but with my pricing of mini maternity sessions, you are getting almost half off of a signature session. Since the focus is on your belly and growing family, we pack a ton into a 30 minute mini maternity session. If you have other children, we make sure to get them in there, too! There's also a full maternity session available if you really do feel great in your skin and want a little extra time to celebrate that moment in time, or if you have older kids who are slow to warm and may not be a fit for a shorter session.

  • Meet and Greet- It's a special thing to allow a photographer into your home with your new baby. If you do a package, I can get to know you and your partner, as well as any other kids you have. I’ll be prepared for you when I walk in with your new baby. You will be tired and overwhelmed and so excited when I see you next with a baby in tow. You will be so grateful to see a familiar face, and not have to introduce yourself for the first time while you are trying to get your new family ready.

  • Storytelling Album- Since you can opt for an album with my shoots, you have the added benefit of putting both your maternity and newborn session in one book for you to have and pass down for generations.

Take some time to noodle on the idea of booking a mini maternity session with your newborn session and if you think it’s the right fit for you, I’m your gal!

My mini maternities happen at one of three amazing Marin locations, which you can see here, and are available when booked with an in-home newborn shoot. Newborn sessions take place in Marin and San Francisco, with a travel fee to Sonoma County and the East Bay.

You can read more about my sessions here, and if you are all ready to book, you can do that here!
